I was very sorry to learn this week ( and I may have been the last person to find out) that Mary Engelbreit's Home Companion is no longer being published. This month would have been the artist studio edition which I totally enjoyed. This was one of those treats you allow yourself, curl up with a cup of tea and get lost in all the creativity. I still go thru old copies and find something new. I guess there were a few more magazines that fell victim to the economy. Unfortunately, I liked many of the ones that did not make it. Look on the bright side, I will be saving some money.

Your still life is beautifully painted Holly. Looking at the two photos together you have definitely improved it a lot, especially the darker background.
Sorry to hear about your mag closing. I am dreading some of my regulars disappearing. They are like old friends. I don't know about where you are but here in the UK there has been a massive explosion of magazines over the past few years. You can get mags on every subject under the sun now which is lovely for us, but I wonder how many of them will have to fold due to recent economical events.
This painting was good before...now it really sings! Great job, Holly!
Thanks Cathy - You are right about the magazines being like old friends. I use them for inspiration and some pages get a little dog earred over time.
Thanks Dean
Your completed project is wonderful as always holly. I too think that the darker background and shadows on the rock create more mystery and drama. Well done.
Kay
Thanks Kay - I am much happier with the dark background.
Holly - I just had to drop by your blog after you leaving such a sweet comment on mine. OMG - your work is beautiful. I took a peek at your cards too - they are delightful!
Thanks Karen - As I said, nice to meet another pastel artist. I will be sure to share your blog with others.
